Martín Anselmi after loss to José Mourinho’s Real Madrid: “Pride”
Martín Anselmi spoke to reporters about Elche’s 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid in the sixth round of La Liga. The decisive goal for Los Blancos was scored by Carlo Espí in the 90+1st minute, deep into stoppage time.
“The word that comes to mind more than any other is ‘pride’,” he said after the match. “What we lacked was staying together in the closing stages. I’ll keep the word ‘maturity’, because we have matured as a team since San Mamés”, added Martín Anselmi.
“Elche showed that it knows how to compete. We faced a top-level team, but I feel proud that we managed to come back and that we always looked for the opposition’s goal. We ended the game with the other team holding the ball in the corner”, Anselmi also said, as quoted by the Spanish press.
