The Spaniard defender’s rise to prominence has been marked by his distinct look and energetic playing style, but he remains humble about his popularity among the Spanish faithful. When asked why he seems to be so well-liked by the public, he admitted he wasn’t entirely sure of the reason.
“Well, I don’t know, to be honest,” he said. “I think maybe a little bit because of my different appearance that attracts attention. But I’m happy for everything, not only for the sporting side, but also for the personal side and the affection that people give me. Above all, to continue like this and in the end making people happy is something very beautiful.”
His manager, Luis de la Fuente, echoed these sentiments, simply stating that “he is a very good person and a very good footballer.”
