Moses Sesay hit a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser as Colchester earned a 2-2 draw at Shrewsbury.
Sesay slammed home from Oscar Thorn’s pass to snatch a point for the U’s in the fourth minute of added time, two minutes after Isaac Fletcher looked to have won it for Salop when Colchester goalkeeper Thimothee Lo-Tutala had fumbled George Lloyd’s shot.
Colchester had earlier taken a 19th-minute lead through Sesay, who brilliantly weaved his way past two home defenders before slotting into the net.
However, Luca Hoole superbly headed home a 29th-minute equaliser for the hosts from Tom Sang’s set-piece.
Shrewsbury finished the first half strongly with Lo-Tutala palming over a header from Lloyd, who then fired wide from a tight angle just before the break.
Home defender Sam Stubbs saw his header cleared off the line by Kylian Kouassi in the second half. With seven minutes remaining, Kouassi blasted a glorious opportunity over from seven yards before two goals in stoppage time produced a grandstand finish.
