Luis Figo sends Barcelona warning despite praising their start: “They are playing well”
The former Portuguese winger is now an advisor to UEFA, and frequently comments on the state of European football, especially on the Merengue club, whose fan he still remains.
However, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, even Figo has praised Barcelona for their excellent start to the new season, during which they have already scored 21 goals and have obtained a six-point advantage over Real Madrid in La Liga. Regarding the Catalan side, the Portuguese official said:
“They have made a very strong start. They are winning, they are playing well, and they are scoring goals.”
Still, Figo warned that there can be more twists and turns as the season unfolds:
“Of course, we have to see how the season unfolds; it is a very long one. For Spanish football, obviously, it is a good thing.”
The 2000 Ballon d’Or winner did not name a favorite to win this award this year:
“Who has the power to decide is the voters. We have to wait and see what happens. I don’t vote, so I don’t have that problem on my mind.”
As these comments from Luis Figo show, the Blaugranes’ amazing start to the season is generating praise from both fans and rivals. However, as the former Portuguese winger commented, only a small part of the season has been played, and the Catalans will have to keep up their performances and consistency to ensure they end up achieving their objectives for the season.
