Telefónica strikes Dazn deal to show all LaLiga matches until 2032

Telefónica has struck a deal with Dazn that secures every LaLiga match on Movistar Plus until 2032. The telecoms group will pay 1,650 million euros over five seasons to complete its round-by-round coverage.

According to Superdeporte, the contract is non-reciprocal, so Telefónica can carry the five fixtures per matchday awarded to Dazn for 2027-32, but Dazn cannot air Movistar Plus’s package. The pact is also non-exclusive, meaning Dazn may resell its rights to other operators, as it has done previously with Orange.

Telefónica will pay an average of 330 million euros per season, 18% more than the 280 million in the 2022-27 deal. That earlier arrangement covered only 35 matchdays, this one includes all 38.

The two companies shared the LaLiga TV rights equally last November for the 2027-32 cycle, keeping five games each per round. The tender lifted the annual value to 1,050 million euros from 990 million, totalling 5,250 million over five seasons. Telefónica will pay clubs 2,635 million and Dazn around 2,615 million.

Movistar Plus pays about 527 million euros per season for its own packages, and the extra 330 million lifts its LaLiga outlay to roughly 857 million per year. Customers will watch five matches via Movistar’s football channel and five through Dazn’s OTT or linear channels, integrated in the platform and also sold separately.

Beyond LaLiga, Telefónica has secured the men’s UEFA club competitions, including the Champions League, for 2027/28 to 2030/31. That contract is worth 1,464 million euros, or 366 million per season.
