Telefónica agrees 1,650 million-euro DAZN deal to show all LaLiga matches until 2032

Telefónica has reaffirmed its dominance in football broadcasting, securing every LaLiga match on Movistar Plus until 2032 after a deal with DAZN worth 1,650 million euros across the next five seasons.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the arrangement is one-way, so Telefónica can show the five DAZN fixtures each matchday from 2027 to 2032, but DAZN will not carry Movistar Plus’s package. The deal is non-exclusive, allowing DAZN to resell its rights to other operators, as it has previously with Orange.

Telefónica will pay an average 330 million euros per season, up 18% on the 280 million agreed for 2022-27, when coverage spanned only 35 matchdays. This time it covers all 38 rounds, reflecting tender terms set by LaLiga under Javier Tebas.

Both companies won five matches per round each in last November’s 2027-32 auction. The price rose to 1,050 million euros per season from 990 million, totalling 5,250 million over five years. Telefónica will pay LaLiga clubs 2,635 million, with DAZN about 2,615 million.

Movistar Plus pays about 527 million euros per season for its own packages, and the extra 330 million lifts Telefónica’s annual LaLiga outlay to 857 million. Subscribers will watch five games on Movistar’s football channel and the other five via DAZN’s OTT or linear channels integrated on Movistar Plus, which Telefónica will also sell separately.
