Villarreal CF have been appointed to LaLiga’s Comisión Delegada for the next two years, joining Barcelona and Real Madrid. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the news comes as the club host Elche CF at Estadio de la Cerámica on Saturday at 16:15, matchday nine.

Real Madrid remain on the body alongside Sevilla, Betis and Alavés, with FC Barcelona and Villarreal CF the principal additions. No vote was needed, the number of candidates matched the six places available to LaLiga EA Sports clubs.

The Comisión Delegada oversees LaLiga’s ordinary management and must meet monthly during the season. It can also sit extraordinarily if requested by at least four members or the president, and mandates run for two years with the option to renew.

Saturday’s fixture will also carry a strong social message for World Breast Cancer Day. Villarreal’s first team will warm up in the Villarreal Femenino pre-match shirt to raise awareness.

During the game, players will wear a pink armband. On Thursday 22 October, the club will present all its teams at Estadio de la Cerámica from 19:00, with free entry.

Away tickets are already available to supporters for the next league outing, the derby against Valencia CF at Mestalla.
