Ten-man Rochdale survived a Fleetwood onslaught to earn a 2-1 victory at Highbury.<\/p>\n
The visitors raced into a two-goal lead inside 14 minutes, Dajaune Brown netting with a first-time finish from Glenn Middleton’s cross in the eighth minute before Aden Flint doubled Dale’s advantage, coolly slotting home after Brown’s shot fell kindly into his path.<\/p>\n
Mark Helm hit back on the half-hour mark, pouncing on a loose ball in midfield and finishing neatly into the bottom corner.<\/p>\n
Fleetwood pushed hard for an equaliser, with Ched Evans’ shot deflected inches wide, Raffaele Cirino hitting the side-netting and Aaron Loupalo-Bi narrowly wide with a fierce low drive.<\/p>\n
The home side dominated the second half but Lewis McCann clearing the bar by inches was as close as they got.<\/p>\n
Dale’s task got even tougher on 69 minutes when Tobi Adebayo-Rowling received a second yellow card for a shirt pull.<\/p>\n
Goalkeeper Sam Waller then denied Evans and Flint got his head to Ronan Coughlan’s goalbound shot as valiant defending, and Fleetwood’s wayward finishing, saw Dale hold on for the win.<\/p>\n
