Europe’s top leagues, the Premier League, La Liga<\/a>, the Bundesliga<\/a> and Serie A, have united to demand sweeping FIFA reform, condemning Gianni Infantino’s leadership.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n According to Goal.com, their statement followed the withdrawal of Infantino’s FIFA Forward Enterprise plan to sell World Cup stakes after heavy pressure, and cited further World Cup controversies, including USMNT forward Folarin Balogun’s red card being overturned.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Despite the collapse of that project, Infantino has said he will stand for re-election next year. The leagues argue problems are systemic and accuse him of advancing abusive initiatives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n They say football’s foundations face a governance crisis, and that scrapping FFE does not address the institutional flaws that enabled it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The leagues call for deep constitutional change at FIFA and for disciplinary matters to be clearly insulated from any political interference.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n They also criticise what they call relentless expansion, citing unilateral changes to the International Match Calendar that strain players and disrupt domestic schedules.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Their plan seeks a permanent stakeholder body for associations, leagues, clubs and players in both men’s and women’s football, with full information and a meaningful role in decisions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n They also demand far greater transparency, with clear rationale, supporting data and independent assessment published before votes. The intervention comes before March’s FIFA election at Congress in Morocco, where Infantino remains favourite.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
