Former FC Barcelona<\/a> academy product Marc Guiu<\/a> was officially announced as a new signing for RB Leipzig earlier today. The Bundesliga<\/a> club signed the Spanish striker from Chelsea in a deal worth \u20ac17 million. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo<\/a><\/em>, Barcelona<\/a> will also receive an additional payment because of the years Guiu spent developing at the club.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A small amount for Barcelona<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Under FIFA\u2019s solidarity mechanism, 5% of a transfer fee is distributed among the clubs involved in a player\u2019s training between the ages of 12 and 23. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

For players aged 12 to 15, clubs receive 5% of the solidarity pool for each season, while from 16 to 23 the allocation rises to 10% per season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Guiu joined Barcelona<\/a> at the age of seven and remained at La Masia<\/em> until he was 18. As a result, the Catalan club is entitled to compensation for his final seven seasons in the academy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

With Leipzig paying \u20ac17 million, the Blaugrana <\/em>are expected to receive \u20ac425,000 in training compensation from Guiu\u2019s transfer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

That payment adds to other amounts Barcelona<\/a> have collected this summer through the development rights of former players. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Transfers involving Nico Gonzalez to Newcastle United, Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid and Sergi Altimira to Sporting CP have generated a combined \u20ac3.4 million for Bar\u00e7a<\/a> in training compensation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Barcelona had already received \u20ac6 million when Guiu left for Chelsea in the summer of 2024. With the latest payment, the club\u2019s total income linked to the striker reaches \u20ac6.42 million.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Guiu looking to revive his career<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Guiu joined La Masia<\/em> all the way back in 2013, as a seven-year-old and rose through the ranks at the club, making waves throughout his youth career.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The striker made his first-team debut for Barcelona<\/a> in October 2023, in a La Liga<\/a> clash against Athletic Club, under then-manager Xavi Hernandez. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It turned out to be a memorable evening for the Spaniard as he scored the only goal of the game, leading Bar\u00e7a<\/a> to a 1-0 victory. Following that, he made six more senior appearances, adding another goal to his tally.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, when Chelsea came calling in the summer of 2024, Guiu decided to move on, with the Blues paying his \u20ac6 million release clause. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But his career in England was a major letdown<\/a>, as he played only 29 times in two seasons, managing eight goals. At 20, Guiu still has his entire career ahead of him, and the striker will hope to get things back on track at RB Leipzig.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
