Real Madrid<\/a> have had a mixed start to the season under Jose Mourinho, with some very good games and some difficult ones, such as the one against Atletico Madrid.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Although refereeing decisions may have hindered Los Blancos<\/em> at the Metropolitano, their performance left a lot to be desired.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tennis icon Carlos Alcaraz has offered a concerned assessment of Real Madrid\u2019s start to the season, admitting that watching Mourinho\u2019s team has been difficult.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As quoted by Mundo Deportivo<\/a><\/em>, the lifelong Real Madrid supporter discussed his club during an interview with Stats Perform ahead of the Laver Cup in London.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cRight now, I see other teams doing better,\u201d<\/strong> Alcaraz said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThey are Real Madrid, great players, with talent.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Despite recognising the individual quality available to Mourinho, the Spanish tennis star believes Madrid have yet to turn that talent into a convincing collective.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAs a team, they can do better. They have to polish a few things,\u201d<\/strong> Alcaraz said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

That assessment feels particularly relevant after the 2-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid. Defeats against Real Betis and Atletico have already allowed Barcelona to establish a six-point advantage at the top of La Liga<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Alcaraz wants \u2018more intensity\u2019<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Alcaraz was particularly candid about the experience of watching Madrid this season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cRight now I\u2019m suffering watching the matches because you never know what\u2019s going to happen,\u201d<\/strong> he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI would say a little more intensity is needed.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

There is some irony in intensity being identified as the problem. Mourinho has built a side packed with powerful players like Fede Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, intensity is about more than just physicality. Mourinho\u2019s side sit rock bottom in La Liga<\/em><\/a> for total distance, high-intensity distance and the number of high-intensity actions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Madrid have looked vulnerable when matches become stretched, while their attacking talent has not always translated into collective control.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The Atletico defeat exposed that problem again, with Madrid struggling to impose themselves consistently despite having enough individual quality to decide the match.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Alcaraz\u2019s words reflect those of most Real Madrid fans, and it remains to be seen how Los Blancos<\/em> improve after the international break.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
