Harvey Elliott<\/a> has been accused by one Spanish reporter of being \u2018overweight\u2019 upon his arrival at Valencia<\/a> on loan from Liverpool.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Having struggled to make an impression on Andoni Iraola in pre-season, the 23-year-old has teamed up with the LaLiga outfit for 2026\/27<\/a> as he seeks to make up for lost time after his abortive stint with Aston Villa last term.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Unfortunately for the Englishman, he\u2019s yet to start for a club who are second bottom in the table and have already changed their head coach this season, with Carlos Corberan sacked and Javier Aguirre hired as his replacement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n In an article written by Dario Puig for Marca<\/a>, Elliott was accused of being \u2018out of shape\u2019<\/strong> and \u2018well overweight for his physique\u2019<\/strong> after an \u2018atypical pre-season\u2019<\/strong> for which he\u2019s now \u2018paying the price\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The reporter claimed that the international window is effectively a pre-season for the 23-year-old and that he has \u2018three weeks\u2019<\/strong> to get himself primed for the resumption of the LaLiga<\/a> campaign in October, a time of which he \u2018should be taking full advantage\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Puig noted that the on-loan attacker is currently the third highest-paid player at the Mestalla \u2013 with the Spanish club covering most of his Liverpool wages \u2013 and that he \u2018should be held to that standard\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n (Photo by Geoff Stellfox\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n If Elliott was hoping that his loan move would provide him with a clean slate and a chance to start afresh after his miserable time at Aston Villa, unfortunately that hasn\u2019t been the case so far.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He\u2019s played just 85 of a possible 360 minutes for Valencia since joining them on loan, and his side have lost all three games in which he\u2019s featured (Transfermarkt<\/a>).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n It was less than 18 months ago that the attacker was riding the crest of a wave after Liverpool\u2019s Premier League triumph and his starring role for England under-21s as they retained their European title.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n How Elliott\u2019s fortunes have nosedived since then, and he could really do with making an impact for his loan club sooner rather than later so that the accusations about his weight will become forgotten.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
