The FC Barcelona<\/a> squad resumed work at the training ground today after enjoying a day off on Monday, reports MARCA<\/a>, but did so with numerous absences. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

17 players from the Blaugrana<\/em> are currently away on international duty, meaning only a handful of first-team players were present at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Moreover, manager Hansi Flick was also unavailable today as he travelled to Las Rozas for the annual coaches\u2019 meeting<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As a result, the training session was overseen by the German tactician\u2019s coaching staff.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Only six first-team players available<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

With the internationals away with their respective national teams, the group of first-team players training in Barcelona was particularly small.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Gavi<\/a>, Gerard Martin, Alejandro Balde<\/a>, Gabriel Jesus, Brian Farinas and Wojciech Szczesny<\/a> were the only senior players that took part in the session. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

They were joined by youngster Eder Aller, the reserve-team goalkeeper, who trained alongside the senior players.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The aforementioned stars, particularly the likes of Gavi and Balde, will be hoping to make the most of the sessions and push for greater involvement in the team once the season resumes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Meanwhile, Barcelona\u2019s injured players also continued with their individual recovery programmes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The club currently have four players in the treatment room: Frenkie de Jong, Joan Garc\u00eda, Andreas Christensen and Roony Bardghji.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Particular attention is being paid to Garcia\u2019s recovery, as he deals with minor discomfort in his right knee. The La Liga<\/a> champions are hopeful that the goalkeeper will be available once the international break comes to an end.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Flick returns on Wednesday<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Flick is expected to take charge of Wednesday\u2019s training session. Barcelona will continue working through Friday before the squad is given another extended break. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The players will have Saturday and Sunday off, followed by the whole of the following week, with the manager deciding to give them a mini-vacation of sorts<\/a> in the ongoing three-week long international break.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The squad is therefore not expected to return to training until 5 October, when preparations will begin for the next La Liga fixture against Getafe.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Until then, the reduced group will continue working around the international commitments and ongoing injury recoveries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
