Atl\u00e9tico Madrid<\/a> came out on top in a fiery Madrid derby, beating Real Madrid<\/a>\u00a02-1 at the Metropolitano to leapfrog their neighbours into second place in La Liga<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The opening half was short on clear chances but certainly not short on tension, with both sides involved in a number of heavy challenges.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Thibaut Courtois<\/a> was eventually called into action to deal with a dangerous Lee Kang-in<\/a> delivery, but the match remained goalless at the interval.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The game changed shortly after the restart when Dean Huijsen<\/a> brought down Giuliano Simeone<\/a> just outside the box. After a VAR review, the former Bournemouth defender was shown a red card, and Alejandro Grimaldo<\/a> kept his composure from the penalty spot to give Atl\u00e9tico the lead.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
