Ryan Naderi’s strike gave Rangers their second win against Celtic in eight days to move within two points of their Old Firm rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership.<\/p>\n

Martin O’Neill had insisted Celtic’s confidence was not “rock bottom” after their League Cup defeat at Ibrox was followed by a loss to Ferencvaros in the Europa League. But, in front of 60,000 of their own supporters, it certainly took another huge dent.<\/p>\n

After Auston Trusty’s effort was ruled out for offside, Rangers took the lead. Naderi fired in on the rebound after Viljami Sinisalo denied Min-Su Kim as the cheers turned to jeers at Parkhead.<\/p>\n

Kieran Tierney hit the woodwork as the champions looked to respond, with Djedi Gassama then doing the same at the other end.<\/p>\n

Celtic’s first chance on target did not come until after half-time, but Ivor Pandur produced a huge save to keep Colby Donovan’s header out.<\/p>\n

Rangers continued to push. Olwethu Makhanya volleyed past Sinisalo but VAR also ruled out his effort, this time for handball.<\/p>\n

Celtic had some late chances, but were booed off the pitch on the full-time whistle as Derek McInnes became the first manager since 1991 to win his first two Old Firm games.<\/p>\n

“It was men against boys, it was the exact same as last week.<\/p>\n

“To come and dominate a Celtic team as much as what they did, it should have been more convincing than what it was.<\/p>\n

“Celtic are lucky to get out of here 1-0. You look at the changes that Martin made at the start of the game, the subs that came on made zero impact as well.<\/p>\n

“Right now, Celtic are a team that’s in big trouble.”<\/p>\n

“He’s [Martin O’Neill] changed formation, he made four changes midweek. He’s trying to find a recipe to get some fluidity.<\/p>\n

“But second half, totally disjointed, totally outplayed. Outworked, which is the worst thing you can label at a team.<\/p>\n

“Really disjointed, battered, actually battered.<\/p>\n

“All the best players were in a blue shirt today. Celtic have a lot to ponder and a lot to work out.<\/p>\n

“They’ve got an international break, which is probably coming at a good time for them.<\/p>\n

“I know a lot of them may be away playing for their countries but there needs to be a total reset because the last three performances in the space of a week have been very poor.”<\/p>\n

“Knowing Martin, he’ll be greatly concerned.<\/p>\n

“I don’t like to disagree with him but it wasn’t a close game. There was a massive gulf between the teams.<\/p>\n

“It was a tough game. I don’t think there’s very much between the teams.<\/p>\n

“We should have created more. We had a lot of possession.<\/p>\n

“We couldn’t make the chances.”<\/p>\n

Asked whether it’s been a bruising week, he added:<\/em> “Of course.<\/p>\n

“It has been a tough week. The history of the club proves it will fight back from these things.<\/p>\n

“We’re still two points ahead, so when the players get back from international duty, we’ll have a rethink.<\/p>\n

“It’s concerning. Is it a disaster? I don’t think so. We have to rethink and reset.<\/p>\n

“It’s a time for self-reflection.”<\/p>\n

‘Worthy win’ for McInnes<\/h3>\n

“Really pleased. We had to deliver a big performance and we did exactly that.<\/p>\n

“We played with a lot of confidence.<\/p>\n

“I was disappointed we didn’t add to the goal we did score because we were deserving of that.<\/p>\n
