FC Barcelona<\/a> president Joan Laporta addressed the club\u2019s excellent start to the 2026\/27 season on the occasion of the Catalonia National Day, reiterating their intention to go for all four major trophies this term.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

However, he was also keen to temper the excitement and remind everyone that the season is still in its early stages. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s keep our feet on the ground because this has only just begun. We hope it continues this way, but the truth is that we\u2019re doing very well and at a very high level,\u201d<\/strong> he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Laporta believes Barcelona\u2019s intensity has been one of the defining features of their opening weeks. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThis year, to win, you have to run and you have to play with intensity. And we\u2019re doing that. It shows the commitment the players have to the club.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Laporta echoes Lamine\u2019s message<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Laporta was also asked about Lamine Yamal\u2019s recent comments<\/a> that Barcelona will have to work and run relentlessly if they are to win the Champions League.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The president fully agreed with his young star, saying: \u201cLamine has a maturity beyond his years. He\u2019s brilliant. That phrase is very illustrative of what this team has to do this season.\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cTension, intensity, commitment, without relaxing, and working flat out to go for everything,\u201d<\/strong> stated Laporta.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He also praised Deco\u2019s work in assembling a squad he considers both competitive and well balanced. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve built a very competitive, very balanced squad. Deco has done something very well, which is to make everyone aware that they have to stay alert because there is so much quality in the squad,\u201d<\/strong> he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

According to Laporta, Barcelona now have enough depth to field two highly competitive teams. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cWe have two very competitive teams and whoever plays does well. Everyone has to be very alert and switched on. There can be no relaxation and we have to be fully committed, knowing that we are candidates to win trophies.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Laporta reiterated the club\u2019s ambitions for the season, saying: \u201cThis year we have set ourselves the objective of winning La Liga<\/a>, the Copa, the Super Cup and the Champions League.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThat has to keep you at maximum concentration and intensity, always thinking about the team spirit. That will lead us to winning trophies,\u201d<\/strong> he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The Champions League remains the competition generating the most excitement around the club. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cWe\u2019re particularly excited about the Champions League and we\u2019re going to work hard to try to win it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Laporta reaffirms Barcelona\u2019s Catalan identity<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Laporta also delivered an institutional speech highlighting Barcelona\u2019s longstanding connection with Catalonia and its democratic values. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cAs you know, FC Barcelona is an institution committed to democracy, and today we are here to pay tribute to Rafael Casanova as part of the Catalonia National Day.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He noted that the club has maintained the tradition for a century whenever circumstances have allowed it. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cWe have done this for a century and have always done so whenever the winds of democracy have allowed it, given that there have been moments when those winds were not favourable.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Laporta went on to reaffirm the club\u2019s commitment to Catalan culture while stressing its openness to the wider world. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cIn defending a Catalan identity that is open to the world, a Catalonia that is open to the world, and in defending our language, our culture and our individual and collective freedoms, you will always find the board that I have the honour of presiding over.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He concluded by linking those roots to one of Barcelona\u2019s most famous principles. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cFC Barcelona has deeply Catalan roots, and that is what gives meaning to \u2018m\u00e9s que un club\u2019. Thank you very much, Visca el Bar\u00e7a<\/em> y<\/em> Visca Catalunya<\/em>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
