Barcelona<\/a>\u2019s emphatic 5-0 victory at Mestalla<\/a> sent a strong message in La Liga<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Pedri<\/a> was among the scorers yesterday, and the midfielder said in the post-match comments that the team\u2019s mindset is not limited to domestic success.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re raring to go: we\u2019re going for every title,\u201d<\/strong> Pedri said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The size of the victory may have surprised some given Valencia\u2019s current institutional problems, but Pedri insisted Barcelona could not afford to take the occasion lightly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe attach great importance to this; you might say it\u2019s an easy match, but it\u2019s never that here,\u201d<\/strong> he warned.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Pedri also addressed one of the tactical questions surrounding Barcelona following Rodri Hern\u00e1ndez\u2019s arrival.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

There has been debate over whether the two midfielders can operate effectively together, but Pedri sees no problem.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cPeople always say that Rodri and I don\u2019t work well together, but the truth is that it\u2019s very comfortable playing with him; we\u2019re going to understand each other very well,\u201d<\/strong> he predicted.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

His goal against Valencia added another dimension to Barcelona\u2019s attacking threat, although Pedri was quick to stress that the responsibility for scoring does not rest on one player.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great that I\u2019m scoring goals, but the fact is we\u2019ve got plenty of goalscorers up front: Raphinha, Ferm\u00edn, Gabriel Jesus\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Pedri\u2019s evening ended with an unexpected show of affection from the Mestalla crowd. The midfielder was applauded when he was substituted and responded warmly to the reception.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Gerard Martin shared Pedri\u2019s focus on the Champions League, praising Barcelona\u2019s mentality after a five-goal performance that also produced a clean sheet.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re already looking forward to the Champions League. For any footballer, Champions League matches are something to look forward to,\u201d<\/strong> said the defender.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Barcelona\u2019s refusal to ease off after taking control of the match was particularly encouraging for the defender.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cEven if we\u2019re two or three goals ahead, we always want more. Scoring so many goals whilst keeping a clean sheet shows that we don\u2019t let our guard down as a team.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of versatility both at the back and up front. This creates a \u2018surprise effect\u2019 for the opposition. We vary our approach during the course of a single match,\u201d<\/strong> he analysed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lastly, the appearances of Rodri and Gabriel Jesus provided an early glimpse of the depth Barcelona can call upon this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rodri started, while Gabriel Jesus made his debut for the club, giving Hansi Flick two more high-level options.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
