With the transfer window now shut, FC Barcelona<\/a> have immediately turned their attention to protecting some of the brightest academy talents who have broken into the first team.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Indeed, according to SPORT<\/a>, Bar\u00e7a<\/a> have made improving the contracts of Xavi Espart<\/a>, Hamza Abdelkarim<\/a>, and Brian Farinas a priority, with the club keen to bring their release clauses and terms in line with their new first-team status.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Talks over improving and extending their contracts began several weeks ago, with the initial signs described as positive in all three cases.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Barcelona\u2019s intention is to complete the new agreements during September, strengthening their position and reducing the risk of major European clubs attempting to take advantage of the players\u2019 relatively low current release clauses.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Espart\u2019s \u20ac20 million clause no longer reflects his status<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Espart currently has a release clause of around \u20ac20 million, a figure inherited from his youth contract. That valuation no longer reflects his importance. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Espart has emerged as one of the biggest revelations of the opening weeks of the season, starting all three of Barcelona\u2019s first three La Liga<\/a> matches.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Bar\u00e7a have rewarded him with the No. 12 shirt in the first-team squad now want to significantly increase his release clause.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The objective is to establish a figure that would act as a major deterrent to interested clubs while underlining the confidence HansiFlick and the board have in his long-term potential.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Barcelona want to raise Hamza\u2019s clause to \u20ac150 million<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Hamza\u2019s situation is particularly striking. His current release clause is just \u20ac15 milion, a figure set when he joined Barcelona<\/a> from Al Ahly on a permanent transfer this summer, after impressing on loan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Since then, his value has risen sharply following his exposure at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, his goalscoring displays in pre-season, and official first-team debut.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Barcelona, therefore, want to increase his release clause tenfold, taking it from \u20ac15 million to \u20ac150 million<\/a>. Discussions have already taken place and, according to the report, negotiations are progressing well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Farinas earns Flick\u2019s backing<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Farinas is in a similar position to that of Espart. The 20-year-old midfielder now has an official first-team squad number, No. 4, and is eagerly awaiting his competitive debut.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

His current release clause is also relatively low, at around \u20ac20 million, and Bar\u00e7a<\/a> want to increase it alongside improving his salary to reflect his new status as a full first-team player.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Flick has played a decisive role in Farinas\u2019 rapid rise<\/a>. The coach intervened to prevent his proposed move to Girona during the summer and subsequently gave him a place in the first-team squad. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Now, the club want to update the release clause amounts of Farinas as well as Espart and Hamza, to avoid another \u2018Dro\u2019 situation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
